Ethan Allen Thumb Back Chair

By robertjmr72, 19 May, 2014
Description

This is a single wooden chair made by Ethan Allen, it has "Thumb Back Chair" painted across the back of the seat and on the bottom it has a stamp that says "Ethan Allen American (word I can't make out) Solid Maple and Birch". That is all of the information I have about this chair, I have done extinsive searches on Google and Ebay and I have not been able to find any chairs that are just like this one. I was wondering if anyone had any information about this chair and how much it is worth, I am interested in selling it.

Thanks a bunch

Robert

Re: Ethan Allen Thumb Back Chair

Does anyone ever read these posts? I found about 12 requests for appraisal for Ethan Allen merchandise with no comments on any of them?

Re: Ethan Allen Thumb Back Chair

Ethan Allen furniture is amass produced item with not a great deal of resale value, which is why there has not been much response. Pieces like your chair are reproductions of early 19th century American furniture, which in the current market is quite modest, with chairs like this often goin at auction for about $25.00 each.
