Very likely to be West African. they were known for animal mask's. one of the others might know more.

What state is house in? do you have photo of the bottom? is the teeth nails? does it have teeth? do you know what kind of wood?

Found it in Nashville Tennessee, and it's really dark red wood. I'm guessing mahogany. I can put a pic of the bottom up later. It's hollow inside

And it does have teeth but they are not nails, they are etched into it
