Antique can with hinged lid

Approx 18 inches tall. Don't know much about it. I bought it at a yard sale about 10 yaers ago and just was attached to it as soon as I saw it.

I have no idea what it is for. I had a gentleman tell me yesterday that it was a gas can used to fill tractors. I thought it was a milk can as long as I have had it, so now I'm curious.

Antique Standard Oil Fuel Can ~ Old Vintage Gas & Oil 

c. 1920's or 30's Worth for these are around $150.00 more if you can findout what the letters are........Love the painted side..Good Luck
