Music box owned by John Wayne

By Lourens, 29 September, 2014
Description

A small, old wind up music box originally owed by John Wayne with a photograph inside. John Wayne was hunting lions in South Africa when he handed the hunter this music box with a genuine old photo of him. The piece is currently in South Africa. The photo must be an original - it is black and white and old. There's unconfirmed reports (which perhaps you can confirm), that he plays with this box in his hands in one of his films. The piece is also fully functional and plays a tune.

The box is approximately 4cm x 4cm.

Re: Music box owned by John Wayne

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is actually a fairly common sankyo music box keychain, unfortunately even if you could find footage of him holding an identical one, without some really good documentation that yours is the one that actually belonged to John Wayne there would be no way to prove it is the same one. So with that being the case it's value is probably right about $50-75. I doubt the photo is worth much if anything at all.

What's the value of the item? My grandfather owns the item.
