Antique Doll with Composite Arms and Legs

By teachersusan, 4 July, 2014
Description

This doll stands approximately 29 inches in height.  I have not been able to locate any visible marks as to the maker of the doll.  She has composite arms and legs.  Her eyes move from side to side and up and down.  She has teeth that move when you push in on them.  She has lipstick and a bow in her curly blonde hair.  She , also, wears a set of beads. If anyone knows any kind of information as to the maker, her name, production date, value, etc. , I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Antique Doll with Composite Arms and Legs

Your doll is a Shirley Temple look a like from the 1930's.  She appears to be in very good condition although her value would greatly increase if you had her face professionally restored at a doll hospital.  Her eyes are called flirty and were intentionally designed to move back and forth.  Her size is not very common either.  In her current condition I would price her around $125.00 after professional restoration her value would double.  Keep her in a controled environment to prevent further deterioration, water is not a friend to composition dolls, and don't push on her teeth anymore let a doll hospital take a look inside to see what's going on with them.

Re: Antique Doll with Composite Arms and Legs

Thank you so much for the information on the composite doll.  I had almost given up on finding out any information.  Several months ago I had a lady  tell me that the doll reminded her of a Shirley Temple, but she was not certain.   I will follow your suggestions on her care.  Many thanks for  taking time to give me the information.  Susan
