Description

I belive that this is an 1880s Louis XV armoire. This armoire has the original key, and the lock still functions perfectly. When I purchased this armoire, I was told it was made of rosewood. I cannot locate a makers mark on this piece. There is minor damage on one spot on the back bottom corner (see picture), minor buckling in a 1/2 inch section (see picture) and one scuff 2  1/2 inches long (see picture). The mirror appears to be original along with all the wood. I have not been able to find a armoire exactly/similar to this one. The bottom trim seem to be the only part of this armoire that is different from the Louis XV styles. Am I on the right track? Is this armoire an authentic piece or is it a remake? I paid $500 for this armoire. Thanks!

What you paid is pretty much what armoires like this go currently for that need some restoration. The market for Victorian pieces like this peaked in the 1990's and have been in decline since that time.
