Kutani hand painted tea set

By housecat, 13 December, 2009
Description

This Japanese Kutani bone china complete 6 person tea setting is hand painted in gold. The tea cups feature lithoplanes of geisha girls, clearly visible when held up to the light. Set consists teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug, 6 cups, 6 saucers and 6 side plates.
It was left to me by my mother, could have been a wedding gift back in the early 50's. It was wrapped in newspaper from 1975, but research on the signature suggests it is from early to mid 1900s. the geisha girl lithoplanes were popular around WW2. Any more info and estimate of worth would be much appreciated. Location: Sydney, Australia.

Re: Kutani hand painted tea set

Hi I have a tea service and dinner service the same pattern as yours. Hayasi Kutani

did you manage to sell it ?

Do you have any suggestions on how is the best best way for me to go about selling mine ?

i live in Ireland, and will be going to live in Australia in a few years, do you know if I'm better selling my China here or Australia.

as you can see I'm not into this  kind of thing selling goods,

my China is just taking up space and would like a new home for it.

many thanks  Maureen

Re: Kutani hand painted tea set

Hi Maureen,

I really don't know where it would be best to sell your China. Wherever suits you best as far as transporting it.

I have $350 USD on mine, anyone interested? It is in Sydney Australia.
