Description

Old iron bed from possibly early 1800's.It has Brass balls and button accents that screw in all over the bed face.The footboard and headboard has or had brass balls finnials at top and bottom.I would like to know the type and style of this setup and any info on where to get replacement buttons and finnials for this bed .I want to complete it for my home. Any info would be appreciated. A value on this as well would be great.

Your bed actually dates from the turn of the 19th century and finding replacements for the brass button bits will be a problem. As far as I know nobody is making these parts, you'll have to source them from antique dealers who specialize in beds. In "as is" condition we'd sell a bed like this for under $225.00.

There is no particular style name for these beds I'm aware of other than "Victorian", most of them postdate 1880.
