to determine when it was built approximately

Re: Telephone table

Based on what I can see this table appears to be constructed of maple, but in a walnut finish. Most telephone tables like this tend to date from the mid 1920's through early 30's. They were mass produced items and remain available in huge number even today, so values for them are modest. We often retail tables like this for less than $200.00, but they often sell at auction for $50.00 or less.
