Re: Lane hope chest
Lane chests like this tend to date from the late 1930's to early 40's and were produced in huge numbers, so they are not considered rare or valuable. We retail comparable ones in good shape for less than $250.00
Re: Lane hope chest
Well I am going to tell you that I don't believe you because I looked this chest up for the 30s and 40s and it doesn't match any of the photos of the chests not one matches they are similar but not the same to this item
Re: Lane hope chest
You don't have to believe him, but he is absolutely correct, What I suggest you do is your own research and prove him wrong. 10's of millions of chests were made by Lane and I'm sure that it is impossible to find a picture of every model they sold. The manufacture date based on the serial number on your chest is 03/06/42. If you believe the date to be wrong recheck your serial number. Good Luck!
Re: Lane hope chest
Well, according to the serial number "246030" it was made in 1942. The serial numbers on Lane chests is a date code, reading them backwards indicates the date of production, in the case of yours "246030" = the date 03/ 06 /42.
