Re: Set of 2 White Floral Sauce Cups?
What you have pictured are two vintage ramekins backstamped Porcelaine A Feu, L.L,. Foecy, France they are handpainted by Louis Lourioux made in the porcelaine studio, Foecy. I cannot tell you the year they were produced but I found a similar item by L.L. on eBay and they were asking $12.00, it was not the same pattern and therefore yours might be of more value depending on the year it was produced and quantitity, etc.
Here is a little bit about the artist Louis Lourioux:
LOURIOUX Louis , born in Saint-Laurent (Cher) in 1874 , died in Foëcy in 1930 , is an active ceramist for Foëcy between 1895 and 1930, a contemporary of Lalique and Gallé. He rose to fame for his parts in sandstone and his mastery of fire arts. Foecy produced tablewares as well as art porcelain in imitation of Sevres porcelain. Louis LOURIOUX begins to produce around 1902 to Foëcy, in a period Art Nouveau . Imaginative and creative, it creates great or shaped decorations inspired by the plant and animal world. He then turned to a more sober production with sets and geometric shapes and Art Deco . It will be, as Emile Decoeur , highly acclaimed for the quality and variety of its enamels.
Imposed by his father as a partner in the porcelain factory Buchon and Legros, Louis LOURIOUX will take the leadership in 1924. It will quickly expand the business by creating materials, shapes and original designs, combining ingenuity and technical mastery in his research laboratory.
He quickly directs his factory to a more artistic production with the help of decorator Pipet Aristide. His productions will be part of the first pieces lifted of the Titanic wreckage.
The factory will be taken over by his wife until 1949 before joining the brand of porcelain Philippe Deshoullières.
Sandstone pieces are especially prevalent in France and the UK, but there are many porcelain services in the United States. Some models are always followed by the actual manufacturer.
I hope this helps you a little. Sorry I could not help you with the year they were made. Only sometime between the year 1890 and 1949, which is a pretty big gap. Maybe someone else will be able to fill in the gaps, now that you know a little more about your items. They are very nice.
