Re: Blenko 38" architectural floor decanter
This is in fact a Blenko Model 5929L (L is for large, it came in three sizes) designed by Wayne Husted (still living) in 1959. This model was available for 2 years, 1959 and 1960. They varied slightly from year to year and production date. In 2011 Blenko released a reproduction of this model which is no longer available. All recent reproductions should be marked as a reproduction.
This model was the trademark of the Blenko Museum and is considered their finest design.
I have this same decantor. Based on its shape I think yours is a 1960 model. As for price there can be a wide range. Each is valued on color, shape (is it the perfect 5929 shape?). Mine was valued at $4,500 about ten years ago. The market has been soft since then. Yours is good but not perfect, the color in the photo appears to be a bit weak. The top flute and first buldge are not as rounded as they should be, bottom is perfect. The stopper seems too big. This is typical and subjective since each of these was handmade and is really one-of-a-kind.
My guess on current value is $1,500 - $2,000 on a good day.
