"A mystery old or antique metal and enamel vase"

By cut-out, 12 January, 2015
Description

This is a vase bought with the contents of an appartment about 45 years ago. It is mainly some sort of metal, bronze or brass, wit a colour enamel or ceramic inlay. It has dragon shaped handles and although it is in the UK it definitely doesn't feel European. The colour is reminiscent of South America, Inca. But it could also be Chinese, or in some aspects it suggests Egyptian hyeroglyphs. Or even art-deco. It is in good condition and about 24 cm high and 15cm wide. It could be very old or a souvenir replica... although it looks fairly aged. Any ideas what it could be?

Re: "A mystery old or antique metal and enamel vase"

This is a Cloisonne vase made in China.

The patterns are typical for Chinese pieces of art and replica's. I've havent seen this type of form before. If made for tourist worth about a 100 dollar. If authentic might be worth 1000's.

prob. early 20 th century or 19th.

I would suggest appraisal at a auction house.
(Sothebys or Christies).

Please post any updates here, im really curious of its age.
