Japanese ginger Jar?

By lionheart2108, 11 February, 2011
Description

Can someone tell me what this is? Seems to be a Ginger Jar of some sort. The only markings are either Chinese or Japanese writings that i don't understand. I think it is pottery since it is thick and heavy. I have no idea of it's age-value or provenance.

Thanks

Roger

Re: Japanese ginger Jar?

It's Chinese. Definitely made after 1900. From the images you provided, I cannot tell if it is from early 1900s. I tend to say it is from 1970-1990, unless a closer look is possible.
