Description
Hello Instappraisal,
My mothers friend has a ton of antiques inherited from a hoarder that she wants me to help her identify. Frankly though the stuff is hard for me to identify because its so old and from all over the world. Any advice on how I can ID this stuff and its value?
I have attached a couple of pics of the items. The more ornatee instrument is a handcrafted violin from Russia. It has animal hide holding down the strings. The other I am not sure about.
Thank You For Your Help.

Re: Antique Instruments; One Russian One Unknown
It looks like the other might be a balilaika....
The balalaika (Russian: балала́йка, pronounced [bəɫɐˈɫajkə]) is a Russian stringed musical instrument with a characteristic triangular body and three strings
I wouldn't know about its value or rarity, but I would guess by the look of it, that you have a very vintage instrument. I hope someone can help you out further. I would love to know too!
All the best!
