Antique Horse Saddle

By emmaleigh1092, 21 April, 2014
Description

This is an antique saddle that has been in my family for over 50 years. The maker is Jansen Bros Saddlery, which was located in Buffalo NY, est. 1865. This outlet no longer exists.

I am unsure of this saddle's age, but know it belonged to my grandmother before my father was born in 1961. It is tooled leather and in very good shape for the age. The tooling is engraved to be a floral design and the stirrups are enclosed with leather. Metal stirrups.

Please email me for additional photos or information. Serious inquiries only.

Re: Antique Horse Saddle

The product Leather New would enhance your saddle without harming it in any way.

Raising the value of the saddle considerably.

A western saddle such as this is measured for size, in a line from the base of the horn, to the the front edge of the lip of the cantle, or the back rising part of the place you sit.  That would give you the seat size.

From the "Tapaderos" the covers for the stirrups, it may have been a parade saddle in it's day.
