Description

This small ink pot? Candle Holder? Type object stands 4.5cm from top to bottom I have not got a clue what it is but it holds the long candles perfectly lol

It looks like the bottom slips into another part of something....not sure?

Does anyone know what this may have been used for...any history would be appreciated

Are you sure it is not white marble?

Did it have anything inside it, like old wax or a dark stain?

I believe this is an inkwell, just missing a cork. Candleholders for individual candles would have some way of preventing the wax from dripping onto one's hand. And would not slip into something else.

However, an inkwell, would have to slip into the hole of, say, an old-fashioned school desk.
