Hand Carved Fireplace Mantel

Description

Previous Home owner was traveling in Europe in the 1940's. Came accross this Mantel in a Villa in France that was going to be demolished. He Purchased the Mantel and had it brought back by Ship to the Boston Area to it's present home.

I believe the wood is Mahogony. and center outline closest to the fireplace is Brass.

Very Ornate Carvings including two 3 foot figurines.

Was suggested to us that it could be from Renasance Revival period?
