Re: antique Anthony Trollope book
That value that found? Divide it by eight. It could sell for more to the right person, the person who may be missing that one book in their set. Hope you remember the set value ;) oh, BTW, yours IS a true first edition. Just in case you weren't sure :)
Re: antique Anthony Trollope book
I'd have someone CAREFULLY put a plastic cover on it, don't let the tape touch the book, otherwise it won't be beautiful anymore. Also, letting a book hold its weight by the covers separates the glue on the binding and will destroy that book in the end. Don't do that. Ever. Anyone reading this. Don't. I'm saying this for your benefit and our future generations. Go do that with a Teletubby book. They're stupid and don't even know how to talk :)
I'm jealous of your book. Please take good care of it or donate it to a museum, because that's where it belongs. It's a museum quality piece you have, please always treasure it. If it has mold or ever gets mold, put it in a plastic bag remove all air seal it well and freeze it for seven 24 hour periods (by which I mean one full week without being removed at all for 168 hours), that will kill the mold. If you ever tire of your book, some (local too) museum somewhere would love to take care of it and display it.

Re: antique Anthony Trollope book
It only pops up on one site. Look up the boom name with the year in Google, I always switch between web, shopping and images. I forget which one it was I found it on, but you will find it. It's a set of four that is hard to find, do it soon. Shipping is scary, might get lost, or damaged. Careful storing and a fun road trip with a pit stop is the best method, but not always an option. If there isn't a locally owned bookstore (the kind that was there before corporate bookstores ever came- corporates employees have no idea or respect generally and will slather tape all over). I would, personally, take it to the local library and explain to the dedicated librarian (because they love books) that you need a plastic cover on your book, but you want to avoid tape touching the book. He/she should be able to cut you a piece of plastic to fit it properly, and the tape should be applied in strips on the plastic only as close and tight to the spine and corners as possible without touching the covers (we have seen how detrimental tape on a book is). This prevents slippage of the cover. The librarian might charge a small fee for it, just explain that you need a professional, someone who cares about the book as much as you do to properly protect it for you. Boost their ego- they will be motivated to do the very best they can covering your book :)
Re: antique Anthony Trollope book
Also, you can take it to a museum and they will display it- museum pieces often aren't actually owned by the museum, are just loaners from local families who want others to be able to enjoy their treasure (and your book, most go their lives without seeing). All you do is talk to the main man, and explain that you would like to loan it to them- you must state that it's a loan so they don't think it's a donation. It is kinda fantastic, going to a museum and seeing your property there :)
