Shelley England (18 piece tea set) Rd272101 Red numbers 11770/31

Description

Shelly is the maker. England bone china believed to be made between 1925 and 1945. Yellow (31) on white dainty tea set. Tea pot is approx. 7 " and cups are small approx. 2 2/8 X 2 6/8 without measuring handles. Markings on bottom are Shelley England, Rd272101 all in green with 11770/31 in red. I do know that the label on these items are from 1925-1945 and that 31 is the number they used for yellow. I can find these in pink, white, polka dot, flowers etc., but have not been able to find a yellow set. All cups, saucers and tea pot have the same numbers. I do not believe this was ever used.

It is indeed a nice set, I've not seen a yellow star set in quite a while, right now the pattern in blue, a tea cup& saucer alone sells for over $75.00 . Here's what's in Lovejoy's dusty files regarding this pattern.

"Designed by Rowland Morris, the Dainty shape was put into production in 1896 and was used until the takeover of the factory in 1966, making it the longest produced shape. In the 1930s, several variations to the original design were produced. Footed and Tall variations were introduced and a Floral handled variation appeared on both the original and tall variations. A Mocha variation was also produced. The original Dainty shape was registered under the registered number 272101. The shape also has another registered number, 735121, which was used to register a variation to the plate shape. The shape of the coffee cup similar to the tall variation (but smaller). The Dainty shape was produced in breakfast, afternoon and miniature sizes. The Dainty shape was used for Badged, Second and Ideal China ware"
