F.B.Rogers Silver Co.Taunton Mass.1883 Quadruple 1225

By john williams, 3 December, 2009
Description

Theres a thick patina on it that makes the engraving look like inlaid pearl from a distance.I have looked all over and can't find anything by Rodgers quite like it and can't find this pattern number 1225 either.I'd like to know how old it is,what exactly is it and a approximate value.I thought it might be a sugar bowl but i think its to big and it has a small neck to it.Thank you for your help.

Re: F.B.Rogers Silver Co.Taunton Mass.1883 Quadruple 1225

Hi! I have just received several pieces of this particular set. I have a teapot, sugar and creamer with lid, also the larger sugar bowl looking piece that you describe and a 5" dome type cover that goes on something.  Or, perhaps, just over it.

Have you gotten any more information from your query?

Thank you,

Re: F.B.Rogers Silver Co.Taunton Mass.1883 Quadruple 1225

The 1883 marking is the founding date of the F.B. Rogers company, not a date of production. Pieces like this tend to date from the turn of the 19th century to about World War One (1914). There is a huge amount of silver plate on the market right now, so demand and values for it are low. Whole silverplated tea sets now often go at auction for under $200.00, indivual pieces often under $35.00.
