Description

ASKING PRICE: $2,995.00    * * *  JUST REDUCED ! * * *

Pattern is called:  " Fleur Parisienne "  ,  (Designer:  Pallandre) on Haviland Blank 4  according to the Haviland Collectors International website.  The set actually has two very similar patterns, with the second complimentary pattern appearing on some service dishes.  Both feature wildflowers with dragonflies.  The pattern is  " Fleur Parisienne ".

Originally a 114 piece set - one cup missing, one cup broken.  We count service pieces with covers as one piece.

The set appears little used, if used at all, and no defects seen.

This set includes Soup Plates, Dinner Plates, Lunch Plates, Tea Plates, Sauce Dishes, Butter Pats, 4 large Platters of different sizes, Large Round Fruit Bowl, Covered Vegetable Dishes, Covered Gravy Turrine & Tray w/Handles, Sweet Meat Dishes, Sauce Boat w/ Handle & Tray, Covered Soup Turrine w/Handles, Open Vegetable Dishes.  No Pitchers.

There is some debate whether the entire set has hand-painted details under the glaze, or just the many handles having hand painted designs under the glaze.

The owner purchased this set at an estate auction in 1984 in Hillsboro New Hamphire for $2,650.00.

We have an earlier receipt dated from the 1960's from Gordon's Antiques which lists the items and contains notes on the previous history.  That receipt states " Circa 1842-1898 ".

Photos contain just a small sampling of the items.

Here is a recent critique from well known expert Mary Barile with What's it Worth.com:

" The pattern is scarce, collectible and considered an elegant example of 19th century fine tableware.  There are at least two version: a table set (like this) and a cabinet set with cobalt blue edging that was designed for a king of Portugal. Based on some of the pieces sold recently, the value of this set would be quite high (perhaps twice th 1984 value) and I would suggest an appraisal. In the meantime, you may be able to find out some information in: "Dining with Flowers" : Haviland Porcelain 1860-1910 by Robert A. Rorex (from a 2000 exibit).

Best, Mary

I am so sorry to hear. This must be the set which is being sold on ebay now. Unfortunately, all the pieces are being sold separately.  I would love to own it, but don't think I can come up with $8000 for china right now. Thanks so much for writing me back.
