Description
My mother got this large, limited edition Avanti d'oro lynx from a plush toy representative in 1984. She had a children's clothing boutique in Hilton Head, SC. As she related it to me, the rep wasn't supposed to sell the lynx, as it was strictly a 'show' item, but she eventually wore him down & got it for me. I can't find anything like it even mentioned on the Net --first time Google has failed me. Mom passed away in 1997, so I need some outside sources of info to give me an idea of its value. Tag reads: "Avanti d'oro Collector's Limited Edition, No. 460, (copyright) 1984 W.B.C. & Jockline, Rome, Handcrafted in Italy, Reg PA 291, Ohio lic 6905 (CA), Contents: All new materials/polyester fiber, Item No 923 Lynx, Design Jockline, Italy"

Hi Maxlet
Any more info on this. I have also. Saw on ebay selling 1985 Lynx for $400.
Can't find anything else.
Mine is NO. 88
Re: Avanti d'oro 1984 large Lynx cat plush toy
Hi Louise, thanks for replying...I'd actually forgotten I put this up! I just did a bit of looking on ebay & Etsy, & found one Avanti (ebay) & one handmade one on Etsy that's not nearly as attractive as ours. The etsy one sold for $690 (https://www.etsy.com/listing/491843733/sold-lynx-evrydica?ga_order=most…)
The one on ebay ($300) has a long description which I find a bit confusing; it claims the toy is #646 & comes with a Letter of Authenticity....I didn't know they did LOAs, & at the very end of the description it says that they only made 500 of each design. Sooooo....why would there be a # in the 600s?? I'll give the url, but I'm inclined to take the info therein with a grain or ten of salt.

Thank you again for your reply, & if I find out anything else I'll let you know.
Best,

I don't have a lot of data on this company, other than this in my archive "The Applause Company manufactured this specialty line of better quality more realistic animals. It was a special line of the Avanti division called D'oro. The designer; Jockline was Italian. Applause has not been in business for many years. There is an Italian company (Piutre') continuing to make an Afghan dog designed by Jockline."
Re: Avanti d'oro 1984 large Lynx cat plush toy
I've got a large collection of Applause critters that my Mom gave me when she had the kid's store...she always nabbed the best ones as soon as the rep walked in the door (I couldn't have stuffed animals as a kid due to dust allergies, so we sorta made up for it later). I also have a whole extended family of the Sun & Star brand Sun Bears...another gorgeous set of animals. They just don't make 'em like that any more :-(
Thank you for the further info, Lovejoy!
