Antique Asian Male Figurine (Mudman)

Approximately 8" tall male mudmen figurine. He has walking stick and holding fish in hand. He has large colorful water waves splashing about him. I know he is an antique as I had seen these as a child and they were even old at that time. I have researched aad he does have the fingerhole in the bottom... paint is sort of globbed at bases, ever so slightly, if at all.. China is imprinted in the clay as well as asian kanji style imprinted/clay carved signature. when I first purchased this.. there was also a tiny piece of the original artist label on bottom yet it was just the last part and it said SHIN CO.. yet you could see there were more lettering prior to that as only a tiny piece of lettering prior to that was on label. The label has since breaking away more yet I have photos of how it was upon purchase. There is a hole where the hand with the fish attaches to the arm, inside the robe. This man has a mudmen jade color round shaped hat cut out in center. the mans skin is white.. yet face has coloration. . and.. the clay is exposed on hand with the fish. . where it attaches to arm.. yet the other half of hand is painted. This man is bald at front with blue tie around head like the commoner of Japanese Edo period.. hair is black and he has low dark sideburns. . And mustache and short beard are painted on with detailed painted brows. He is smiling and mouth apears opened cavity.. his chest is bared and robe hanging off at shoulder of arm that holds walking stick. His robe detail is hand painted intricately detailed.. blues and purplish/mauve with tiny painted flowers with green in details.The trim of his robe/yukata is swirls like water waves.. His sternum? (Bone through center of chest) is prominent in his bared chest. The fish in his hand is black with red marking and mouth is open.. I know this old and is an obvious asian fisherman. .seemingly like Chinese mudmen.. yet seems Japanese possibly.. (vast majority of Chinese mudmen I've seen have long white beards/hair, yet this is dark haired/short haired/painted on) not quite certain of the specific ethnicity/era (Looks like Edo era/style). . Yet made in China. The clay is light.. it seems it could have been made in late 1800's to early 1900's. Trying to identify exactly or closely.. as to what it is.. exactly. I know I am close in my own identification of this. . yet need someone who is expert in this.. I am not expert yet I've researched and collected these types of tjings my entire life since a very young age and familiar with a lot of older things and I can usually tell when things are older.. or rare and unique. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ever so much
