A. H. Seymour Violin #3 1906

Description

So I have this violin that I purchased about 17 Years ago for about $1,600 and when I purchased it I was interested in the History of it so I went to the Antonio Strad shop here in San Antonio, Tx about a few months after I purchased it and he did not tell me very much but said he was a collector and was will to give me $2,900 for it. I declined because I felt I had something. I am now very intrigued and as the years have passed I am wanted to see what the appraisal value is of this Violin. Please help me also if you know any history of this violin or the maker. The Violin has a very rich sweet sound. My fellow musicians that are pros at the violin have offered to buy it from me and they say they have enjoyed playing it very much.

Wish I knew more.  Maker was Abijah Hayes Seymour of Swanton and Lincoln Nebraska.  I have a violin of his made in 1927 and would like some more information too.  If you have more pics to post please do so or if you can email me the pictures and can compare.  I have not set up the violin yet but if yours sounds as good as you say I am excited.  i came across it at a very low price and am happy to hear what san antonio strad offered.  The maker lived from 1860 to about 1931.  He made bows, violas and cellos also.  If I get more information I will post.

Thank you

I have one of his Violins to which i purchased about 26 years ago.

Mine is #41 and was built in 1924. When I bought mine i paid $22,000 AU for mine.

These Violins are mainly for soloist's as they are much to loud to be used in orchestrial playing.

I hope this helps.
