Description

This is an English biscuit tin I bought at an estate sale. The metal ring around the top is etched with EPMS, Made in England. My guess is that it's early 20th century, but I'm hoping to be able to pinpoint the time frame a little better. Any information would be most appreciated.

Hello, I'm no expert but looks very like biscuit jars from late 19th century, and the stamp isn't etched with EPMS, , its EPNS, which stand for electro plated nickel silver. Alot of this EPNS was produced in Birmingham and Sheffield. Hope this helps you on your search for an answer.

Thank you Keith. The EMPS was a typo on my part, sorry! Thanks for the information. It will help me with my search!

Items marked "Made In" before the country of origin tend to post date the early 1920's in most cases, as does this one. Many like these tend to date from the early 1920's to just before World War 2 in 1939. What you paid is about what they go for at auction.
