Re: Black bottle

This is an early hand blown whiskey or beer bottle. Early bottles are collectible and easy to sell but unfortunately this one isn't worth much. There are so many bottles out there, unless you have pieces with rare colorization, shape that is almost always the case value wise. Black/brown bottles are the most common with their purpose having been to let as little light in as possible to preserve the alcoholic beverage inside for as long as possible. When you get into colors like cobalt, purple, orange etc or bulbous type shapes, that is where the value starts to rise. Some bottles by certain makers only have ten to a hundred examples known to exist, and in those situations the values can rise into the hundreds or thousands of dollars.

This particular bottle is worth $10-$20 at best IMO.

Regards

Nicholas

Re: Black bottle

crsaow top invented in 1899 not genrally used till 1910  post your best color and oddest pieces they may have more value that the other items. this generally sells for about 50c-1$ its a common beer bottle from around 1910. the blob tops that dont take a crown are earlier. embossed bottles are generally better aslso small cities also help and a nice color also pontil marks on the bottle help also . if it is truely a black glass bottle it may be worth about 3-5$ . it really just looks amber to me.
