Antique Carved/Etched Glass and Brass Oil Lamp (Converted to Electric)

By Griddykitty, 22 February, 2017
Description

A beautiful antique lamp that is well over 70 years old.  The font unscrews from the column but I couldn't unscrew it from the crown and I didn't want to force it.  There are no cracks or chips in the font and the brass is in good shape with some wear on the top of the base.  It was converted and does work.

Where the bottom of the column meets the base there is a marking.  PAT is clear.  Then something that looks like ADI (followed by what looks like an upside down apostrophy) D.  Then I think, FOR. You can kinda see it in the picture of the base.

I also have a frosted chimney and a green glass globe with a rose painted on it.  I'm attaching a picture with them on the lamp but I really don't know if they are original so I don't know whether to combine them or not.  Perhaps you can give me some advice on that...

I listed the condition as Good because I don't know what the criteria is between Good and Excellent so it could very well be considered Excellent condition.

I have loved this lamp all my life but I just have no place to put it since we downsized our home.  I want it to go to someone who will be able to enjoy it's beauty.

Thanks!

I guess since I love this lamp so much, I expected it to be worth more.  I have not been able to find anything like it online.  Thank you for your comment.

some stuff just doesn.t have the market value as high as how much w love them that make for fun buying, and collecting . this stuff if enough people agree with you goes up in value and is worth more . i have seen people collecting things that no one else was and many times the trend continued. a little down the road they get quite valuable sometimes

With the exception of the very high end stuff, the values for Victorian styled anything has been in steep decline since 2000. These things go in cycles and there is no way of knowing when a certain style of decor comes back in fashion. Some styles, like French Provincial seem to resurface about every 30 years or so, the last low point for Victorian Furinishings was in the 1950's to early 60's.

when peole start buying houses again the whole furniture market might come back. but it has been dead since after the collapse of the hu ousing market i noticed. people arebuying houses and dont need the furniture for them. the market is coming back and there is now some help for businesses aagin maybe the market will come back again for furniture again .   kids just want phones and vidoeo games which also hurts the market and all the old stuff is flooding the market and can easily got. the deamad is way down because of that also. it so sad ive seen old tables that would have sold for 1500$ sit there and non one wants them for 150$ . andbthey take junk and paint it and sell it for 2-300$ and good old stuff is ignored.
