I had one that seems similar and I was a gold coin called a quarter eagle. In the old west they had double eagles which I believe were about $20.00 then. Hope this helps.

Prices vary on eBay a bit... graded and slabbed (in a holder) for $139 - $299 or better.
yours looks genuine and on the high end. But there is no way to really grade it accurately without seeing it.
