Description

This was found in my dads attic.  Possibly Victorian.  It appears to be an oil/paraffin table lamp.  The wick is still in situ.  There is slight damage to to the shade.  No markings on it.

Parlor lamps like this tend to date from the last quarter of the 19th century, but remained in use in some rural communities into the 1920's. They were made in huge numbers, values for therm today depend a great deal on the decorative shades and maker. I find it very unusual that there are no markings, they can often be found on the ajustment knobs or burner.

Excellent. Thank you! I’l take a closer look, as I assumed any marking would be on the base.
