Old Vase with a "557" branding

By ohio_mba, 30 April, 2018
Description

My aunt has this vase that once belonged to her grandmother. Given that fact I am guessing this would be from the 40's or 50's? It has a branding at the base of "557". We can't find anything online and was hoping someone here would know a little about it. We are in Ohio (obviously) so maybe this is a local piece? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Old Vase with a "557" branding

It dates from the turn of the 19th century and is in the Art Nouveau style, which reached it's peak of popularity Circa 1900. It's a generic piece, maker unknown, the kind of piece that would have been sold at a Five & Dime type store or as a premium from soap companies of the period. Most pieces like this have limited values, generally under $50.00
