This piece is late Victorian, and like many made during this period is a mix of Revival styles, this one Gothic Revival with a mix of Georgian. Oak pieces like this last peaked in value during the peak of the Victorian decorating craze that dominated the antique market for much of the 1980's through early 1990's. Demand and values since then for these massive oak pieces has been in great decline as the downsizing Babyb Boom generation floods a market with far fewer eager buyers. The majority of them now sell at auction, where comparable examples now sell for under $2500.00
