Profile picture for user cepenley
By cepenley, 20 January, 2013
Description

I have recieved this Lane Cedar Chest while helping someone move. We were paid to help them move so I put that down as the price paid. (25.00). I have included pics. I looked it up on the internet but unable to find exactly what I wanted. . I know it was made 12/09/1939. That is the serial number read backwards. It is made in AltaVista VA. I wanted to what is worth and the type of wood on the outside. I found this very interesting about the serial number.

Re: 1939 Lane Cedar Chest

It looks like it has extensive veneer damage around the base, this is not cost effective to repair. Even Lane chests in very good condtion in this "Waterfall style" seldom sell for over about $200.00 at auction, damaged examples often do not get bids over $50.00.
