If it's from the Christ era it falls under the Byzantine era which was the eastern half of the Roman Empire, it's capital was Constantinople (modern Istanbul). It would help in identifying if you could take a picture of the other side of the coin. I'll help if I can I just need to see the other side :)
Those symbols appear to me to be Sanskrit; language of "ancient India." I would search the internet for old round coin from ancient India and see what surfaces.
