Intaglio Anton Blue Glass Globe

By pinkchev71, 4 September, 2012
Description

This piece is a small, hand blown, blue glass globe that sits on a metal base with dragons. I'm not sure if the pieces go together or were aquired seperately, with the base being for display purposes only. The blue glass has a "cracked" irridescent sheen on it. It doesn't look painted, but more like the glass was treated during the blowing process to create the finish, but I could be wrong. The globe itself is 12 inches in diameter and sits appx 6 & 1/2 inches high on the base. The base is brass colored, but I do not believe it is actual brass. It is stamped INTAGLIO Anton on the bottom next to the blow hole. It is also "signed" or inscribed, but cannot clearly make out the signature. I aquired it after my grandmothers passing. She always kept it on display and I have always loved it, even as a child. Any information on this piece is greatly appreciated! Thank you for looking!

Re: Intaglio Anton Blue Glass Globe

http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5892162  I found my exact one on live actineers.  It is an Anton Intaglio Susan Anton Carr Witch Ball on brass stand with Sea horses. Glass blower used name Anton-Carr through 1992 while at Fari Levi Studio in Ohio.  Asking price at action $120-$160

Re: Intaglio Anton Blue Glass Globe

I have one just like this piece but the markings are different since it’s hand crafted. I purchased mine around 1992 or so out of a Fingerhut catalog. I paid about $80 (I think). It came with the brass stand with dragon heads. The artist is Susan Anton Carr and the piece is Intaglio. Susan Anton Carr is a well known artist of blown glass. I also believe the glass was treated while being created giving it the iridescent sheen. I’ve seen it being auctioned for $180 back in 2008, I have no idea what it’s vskue is. I love mine, have since I first bought it.
