Description

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I pulled the screws from the piece and they're post 1848. There has been a repair done as seen in image 204501, but the repair is so good, I can't take a picture of it. It doesn't show up. Besides the piece being beautiful, I hardly know anything about it. Besides, it came from the New York area. What do you think?

It's not antique, it dates from the second quarter of the 20th century. Low coffee type tables are a 20th century invention.

It's midrange stuff, the carving was done by machine, the inlays on these were all punched out like jigsaw parts.

I'm not taking any offers at the moment, as i'm awaiting for more opinions. I'm not so sure "the carving was done by machine". The chisel marks and inconistancies in the carving of the corners and feet is off the charts. Maybe machines in the 1950's-70's could produce like this? I don't know, but it seems highly unlikey. The inconsistancies and chisel marks just screem hand carved. But, I could be wrong.

I'll post another thread with closeup's of what i'm talking about tomorrow and you'll see what I mean. This has to be hand carved. There's too many carve marks, carve depth differences and pattern inconistancies for this to be done by machine in 1950's. It just doesn't make sense.

A lot of machine carving looks like that, particularly if a piece has been refinished at some point. You can rest assured it is not an antique.
