Astrological / zodiac Coffee Table

By Nikki6, 13 December, 2015
Description

I am looking for information on this item as I just have no idea about it. I have not seen another like it and I am wondering how much it could be worth.

I think this is a coffee table although I am not 100% sure on that. I aquired this from a relative almost 13 years ago and they have no idea where it came or any details about the item.

It stands around 18" tall and is 24"x24"

It has wing nuts holding pieces of wood together on the underside so thats an indication of age.

It looks hand carved, lines have varying width and depth, no two lines are the same, the circles are rather wobbley and the images look.. rather abstract at best.

The table top also appears to have some sort of copper on it as when it gets wet or is cleaned, it temporarily turns green.  It has a chip on the underside (which is painted black) of one corner which reveals a sort of browny/yellow  resin I think.

There are no markings or signatures on this of any kind.

I cannot say more than that as that is the limit of my knowledge.

Re: Astrological / zodiac Coffee Table

Hi Nikki6

Did you ever find out about your table?

I only ask because I have its exact twin here, and know nothing about it!  I bought it about a year ago, and it came from a house clearance.  But the seller couldn;t tell me anything about it.  It is so unusual, I'd love to know more.
