Old Amati? violin

By galssfull, 2 July, 2020
Description

I picked this up at a garage sale. The older man who had it did not know anything about it.  He said he got it at auction years ago. I paid very little.  It seems old but I do not know. It has a lable inside.

Re: Old Amati? violin

The labels are fake on these, most were made in Europe 1900-1930, primairily Germany and sold through mail order catalogs. Some were very well made, but need a physical examine to determine their quality by playing.

Re: Old Amati? violin

Thank you.  I did suspect it was fake lable  The condition of the violin is not playable.  It would need alot of repair.  It did come in an old wood coffin case. Which I think was made in 1920. That was worth my $15.00  investment.
