Carl Schlieper German Eye multi-tool pocket knife

By Essexfish, 14 February, 2021
Description

This is a nickel silver plated “German Eye” pocket knife by Carl Schlieper with two blades, a can opener, corkscrew, punch, and bottle opener. Handle is engraved with “Carl Schlieper Fabrieks-Merk Remscheid-Solingen-Batavia-Soerabaia-Semarang-Medan” on one side and image of a workman and traditional tools on the other. The larger blade has “C. Schlieper” and Indonesian or Thai script (from its Dutch East India/Siamese history) engraved at its base. I know the company began in the late 1700s and existed until the 1930s but I don’t know the date or estimated value of this item. Can anyone provide further info?
