Re: Lane Solid Walnut Sweetheart Hope Chest

I think if I understand correctly yours would be from 1967. You read the serial number backwards so 01-15-1967. The 2 has something to do with plant location. Also I believe the inside of yours would be cedar, that’s the aromatic moth deterrent. You might also want to check if it locks automatically when it shuts as this has been cited as a safety hazard for children. Here’s some chests that sold on eBay, that may give you a clue as to value https://www.ebay.com/sch/125085/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=lane+cedar+chest&…
From what I’ve read they’re anywhere from $100-$700. I’d imagine the older ones in really great condition are the ones fetching the better prices.

Re: Lane Solid Walnut Sweetheart Hope Chest

What you paid is far more than these Lane Hope Chests actually sell for, Lane is just one company that has made literally tens of millions of these on their own, other companies produced them as well from about the end of World War One through the 1970's. At auction it is not uncommon for a comparable chest to sell for about $75.00.
