Old beige "plastic like" box with hinged lid

I have an old beige "plastic like" box with hinged lid.   It came from my Great Aunt's house, and she passed away in the 1970s.  It is 5 3/4" long x 1 1/4" wide x 3/4" deep.  The inside is divided into 2 compartments lengthwise.  Could it be a cigar holder?  I believe it is too short for a pen/pencil holder.  I would like to know what this box might have been used for and what material it is made of.
