Jackson desk 1950s

Description

The desk dimensions are 77 x 42.5 x 29. Desktop overhangs the edge so it could be used as a partners desk. There are two slide-out panels and eight drawers. There is some wear on the drawer fronts but it otherwise is in good condition.

Single owner bought it new in 1956 and used ituntil he retired. Made of walnu

The desktop overhangs the edge so it could be used as a partners desk. There are two slide-out panels and eight drawers.

There is some wear on the drawer fronts but it otherwise is in good condition.

This was my grandfather's desk. I would love to use it myself, but I just don't have a place for it. He bought it new in 1956 and used it in his law practice in Sarasota until he retired.

This desk https://www.ebay.com/itm/283809687525 is similar to yours, a bit smaller. It may. Be worth following to see if it gets the asking price. Here’s an Instappraisal appraisal on a Jasper desk (not the same as yours) https://instappraisal.com/appraisal/jackson-desk-jasper-indiana I believe this appraisal was from 2017. There was also a Jasper desk appraisal on Just Answers that had the same resale estimate of $350 - $500. I don’t know but would assume the value is still about the same.

Mid century desks like this kind of fit a a bit of a niche in terms of value, but outside the Collector's for this type and style of desk values tend to be modest at under $500.00. At auction they can sell for under $200.00.
