Vintage Hurricane lamp globe

By Kasmitn, 25 January, 2022
Description

I have a matched set of brass hurricane lamps and recently broke the snowflake etched globe. I’ve been trying to locate a replacement for over a month. I have only been able to locate on other that looked like mine. It was on a different style lamp base and it sole at an antique auction last year in the UK. I contacted the auction to see what they could tell me about it and they had nothing. I am looking for a replacement globe exactly like this one or a matching pair similar if anyone know where I can find one I would be eternally grateful! It’s hand blown, 4” fitter and 7 2/8” T and 7 1/2” in diameter.

Re: Vintage Hurricane lamp globe

You could follow searches “ hurricane lamp globes snowflake” on various sites like rubylane, liveauctioneers, Etsy and eBay. Also let nearby antique stores know what you’re looking for.
I also wonder if you could have a reproduction custom etched. It wouldn’t be exact but might be a possibility.

Re: Vintage Hurricane lamp globe

Hi, I appreciate you’re reply. I have scoured the internet, eBay, Etsy, international eBay and numerous antique and vintage lamp replacement part sites. My husband and I have also been looking in all the antique stores within a 100 mile radius. The only thing we haven’t done yet is go back to San Diego and check with the antique mall where we purchased the lamps. I’m getting desperate at this point.
I have contacted a half a dozen glass experts and have received quotes from $500-$750 to recreate one duplicate. Also $200 for etching the pattern if I supply the clear glass globe but he wanted a few globes in case it took him a few tries to get it right. Not yet ready to spend that much when we only paid $90 for the pair.
