Antique WinShip Steamer Wardrobe Trunk

By LAX_Art, 23 December, 2022
Description

Antique Steamer Wardrobe Trunk made by the WinShip Company. It’s a hundred years old by now by a few years more or less. I got the original key for it two. This was given to me by my oldest tenant a few years ago. She lived to be 96 years old, meaning she was born in 1926. What was more interesting is that she lived in the same Hollywood apartment building since moving-in first in 1968! She worked all her life for the government and she traveled around the world extensively, and she was still living independently and fully agile at that age, living comfortably fully supported by her own life saving’s. Anyways back to this Steamer Trunk, she gave it to me, and told me that a relative once came to see her from the east coast back in the 70’s and she brought with her this trunk, took all of her stuff out, and then left it. So it has just been sitting in one of her closets ever since. Even though it is an aged and large item, it still is in good condition and there is no actual rusting as far as I could inspect and there is no mold or anything, and no smell. I was wondering just how much could this specific trunk cost? Thank You.

Your trunk dates from the…

Your trunk dates from the 1930's. There are collectors for these, but outside this group of collectors demand is fairly modest, but I have seen examples in very good shape going at auction for over $350.00, most however tend to go for about $150.00 in unrestored condition at auction.
