Antique Dinner/Farm Bell #3

Description

#3 Bell has not casting marks or other identifiable (to me) markings. Sounds great. The yoke attaches it to a post I presume.  The bell is 17"across the bottom and approx 20" high.

Bells like this were used mainly as farm and school bells during the late 19th Century. They were produced in large numbers throughout the late 19th Century by a large number of East coast foundries.

These bells used to be a hot item in the 1980's, and Pickers all over the country were climbing old churches, school houses and barns in the dead of night to get them. The demand led to reproductions to fill that demand, which caused values to eventually crash. Now these bells often sell at auction for under $150.00.
