Description

I found this rocking chair abandoned in a ditch. I found a similar one online that says it might be a 1900s Temple Stuart chair? Looking for any help with IDing this, as I’d love to learn more about it!

This does match Temple…

This does match Temple Stuart chairs. The Temple Stuart Furniture Company was a prominent American furniture manufacturer that operated for several decades. Founded in 1904, the company was headquartered in Baldwinville, Massachusetts. It gained recognition for producing high-quality solid wood furniture, particularly in the Colonial and Early American styles.

Temple Stuart Furniture gained popularity during the mid-20th century when there was a resurgence of interest in traditional furniture designs. The company focused on crafting durable and timeless pieces using skilled craftsmanship and quality materials. They utilized various types of wood, including maple, birch, and oak, to create their furniture.

One of Temple Stuart's signature collections was the "Hutch, Buffet, and China Cabinet," which featured elegant and functional pieces for dining room storage and display. The company also offered dining tables, chairs, bedroom sets, desks, and other furniture items that showcased classic designs and attention to detail.

Over the years, Temple Stuart Furniture developed a reputation for its commitment to craftsmanship and its dedication to producing furniture of enduring quality. Their pieces were sought after for their durability and timeless aesthetic appeal.

However, like many traditional furniture manufacturers, Temple Stuart Furniture faced challenges with the changing market trends and increasing competition from mass-produced furniture. The company eventually ceased operations in the late 20th century.

No big value currently for a chair like this, under $50.00.
