Ferdinand A. Devito - Painting of Paris

By Jean-Claude Lussier, 7 August, 2013
Description

Hi, My grandmother has a painting she wanted me to sell but I have no idea how to find the value, then I came across your site. Could you help. The painting not including the frame is 24" x 48". There is a small engraved plaque on the bottom of the frame with the name Ferdinand A DeVito. I can't find much on the web. Thanks for any help you can give.

Were you able to find out anything about this painting?
I have a painting from the same artist with the exact same frame brass plate... but painting focal point is the Arc du triomphe

Ferdinand A. Devito Paris painting

Were you able to find out anything about this paintings? I have one very similar, although it's in a different frame, a bit darker and no "focal" point - just the Paris street scene (24" x 48" without the frame).

Ferdinand DeVito, American, …

Ferdinand DeVito, American, (1926–1974) was associate professor of art at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Professor DeVito graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1954 and earned a master's degree in fine arts from Yale in 1956.

Before joining the art and art history department at Binghamton in 1967 he had been on the faculty of the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture.

Very little of this artists work has sold in recent years to produce a reliable valuation, and paintings really require a physical examination by an expert to determine what you have.
