Description
Large gold metal Rococo? frame with bubble glass and a tin back. Glass/picture size is 14" x 20". I am looking to find out if it is American or European. Early 20th or late 20th (1970s?) and how I could tell that in case I come across something like this again. I am really looking to learn. Thank you so much in advance for any help.

By looking at the back of this frame I think it's American. Yes, it's Rococo in style, but I think it's more from the resurgent Hollywood Regency from the late 1960s-70s. You paid only $20??? You got a GREAT DEAL you savvy shopper you! Be careful with that glass. It would be very expensive to replace.

I would say based on the images and the patina it's probably 1930s Plus this style is gone in and out of popularity several times since its original Inception back in the 1700s in France so I used to find a great deal on local demand the more urban centers these tend to be more sought after for specialized decorating purposes we'd probably retail one for about $125 and take best offer
