Antique Vander Ley Seth Parker Chair

By Mnmb3640, 19 June, 2015
Description

I purchased this chair a number of years ago for $15 from antique store ( I think it was accidentally priced wrong). I bought it because I loved the look of it. I noticed the metal tag on the back and never really got curious about it until now.

I have done some research for Vander Ley Bros. and found the obvious information that they were in business from 1921-1950 - they also built furniture for Warner Brothers film Gone With the Wind.

i can find plenty of photos for Anne Hathaway chairs, but none for Seth Parker.

What style is this chair? Barrel back with sides? What could be the estimated value?

This is some sort of Velvet fabric no rips or tears anywhere, but worn in the normal places, on the arms; the tacks have the green patina on them.

Thanks for any information

Channel back chair

It's called a channel back. Probably from the 1930s-40s. Not much in value, maybe $50-70 at auction. Sorry, I couldn't find anything on Seth Parker either. Maybe the retailer? Furniture companies would produce merchandise exclusively for certain stores.
