Virginia House Maple Kids Bedroom Set

Manufacturer: Virginia House Furniture
Material: Solid Maple
Category: American Furniture (Mid to Late 20th Century)
Distinguishing Features: Traditional maple design, spindle details, maple leaf carvings, turned wood accents
Condition: Excellent

History & Background

Virginia House was a well-known American furniture brand, producing solid wood furniture primarily in the mid-20th century. Their maple furniture was particularly popular, known for its durability and classic colonial-inspired designs. This particular bedroom set, featuring a bed frame, dresser, desk, and chairs, reflects a classic mid-century American aesthetic with turned legs, maple leaf carvings, and warm honey-colored maple wood.

The company was part of Drexel Heritage and known for producing high-quality furniture using solid wood construction, making their pieces highly durable and collectible among vintage furniture enthusiasts.

Current Market Value

Given the excellent condition of this set and the desirability of mid-century solid maple furniture, the estimated current value ranges between:

  • $800 - $1,500 for the full set, depending on location and demand.
  • Individual pieces could range from $150 - $500 each.

Factors affecting the price include regional demand, condition, and whether the set is being sold together or in pieces.

Recommendation for Appraisal

If you’re looking for a more precise valuation, consider:

  • Professional antique furniture appraisal for insurance or resale value.
  • Checking local vintage furniture dealers or auctions for similar Virginia House pieces.
  • Listing on collector forums or marketplaces to gauge interest.

Hard maple " Colonial…

Hard maple " Colonial Revival" suites like this were all the rage in the 1950's through mid 60's, demand revived again in the 1980's, but slumped dramatically in the 1990's. Such furniture was loosely designed after original American Colonial furniture made 1620-1780, but in the majority of cases entirely machine made.  Values for bedroom suites at auction currently are generally under $500.00
